Harmony 4 Women
Women's ACappella
Holiday Chorus

Singing practice has begun for the 90 women who will entertain the community in November with 4 part harmony in support of 4 local women's groups.  At $10 a ticket, for either of the two performances on November 21, at Summit High School, this concert will be a great bargain.

"This is the most fun I've had in ages!" remarks Linda Gardner, WRCCO board member and community member singing with the 90 ladies.  "I haven't done any singing since high school and college, and because my voice is lower than most, singing to the radio is difficult (unless an octave lower).  This gives me an opportunity to enjoy the songs at my own level.  You'll be amazed at the blend of voices."

Tickets will be on sale by October 20, through High Desert Galleries in Bend, Redmond and Sisters and at the Old Mill District, from Chorus members, by mail from WRCCO PO Box 8693, Bend 97708 and on line at www.wrcco.org.  Be sure to specify 2:00 matinee or 7:00 evening performances.

The Concert supports Grandma's House, Saving Grace, the Central Oregon Showcase Chorus and WRCCO.  Thanks to sponsors:  Bend Broadband, Cascade Publications, Clear 101.7 FM, The Roundhouse Foundation, William Dahling, DDS, Bank of the Cascades, Hands on Physical Therapy, Clarissa P Green, Counsellor, East Cascades Women's Group, Brian MacRitchie, Attorney at Hurley RE, PC, and the 6 individuals helping with singer scholarships!

You, too, can help sponsor this event!  Call WRCCO 385-0750, or Linda 385-0356.

New office hours, New Volunteers

Bend OBGYNWRCCO is now open Mon. through Thursday, from 10-2, Thanks to our two new incredible volunteers.  They are Kate and Liz.

Liz Tash relocated to Bend in May from Kona, Hawaii with her husband Thom.  In Hawaii, Liz enjoyed her job as an assistant manager of Koehnen's Interiors.  She and her husband spent a lot of time exploring the Big Island, swimming at favorite beaches, free-diving, and enjoying the music and cultural events of Hawaii. The move back to the mainland brings them closer to family and friends,  and back to life in the mountains.  Prior to living in Hawaii they lived in McCall, Idaho and surprisingly, they look forward to snow!  Liz has a son and daughter, and two delightful grandchildren and two beloved border collies..   Liz's interest in non-profit organizations and fundraising brought her to volunteering at WRCCO and St. Charles Medical Center.

Kate Boismenu is in the office Mondays and Wednesdays and will be helping out with events and workshops. Presently, she is taking the Life Transitions course and hoping to be trained by Vicki to co-facilitate future classes.  Kate has a Psychology degree from the University of Oregon as well as experience working in mental health and social services. She is currently applying to graduate programs in social work with the goal of becoming a private practice clinician. Her passions are self-improvement and mental health. She is hoping to enrich WRCCO in any way. "I feel fortunate to be working with and learning from the women at WRCCO and I am grateful for the opportunity to help the center and our community. Hope to meet all of you soon", says Kate.

NOTES from our participation at Project Homeless Connect   We recognized a minimum of 30 women we talked with who would greatly benefit from taking our Life Transitions class.  These women were in tears, or close to them because of their current circumstances.  We heard there are 1 in 9 people in Central Oregon who are homeless.  Unfortunately, they have no money, and we don't have enough either to pay the instructor for all of their classes.  If you can help with donations for a class, we would be very grateful.  These folks are in the same group we discussed in last month's newsletter . . . about our Partners in Transition Project, and we could take these classes to their shelters, community centers, and agencies.  Won't you help us help them?

Donating is easy, go to our web site (www.wrcco.org), or send us a check (PO Box 8693, Bend 97708).  If we could collect $10,000 we could help 160 homeless women and families with children, "teaching to fish" . . . teaching them the skills to assess their situation, make a plan to move forward, and implement it.

Sincerely,
