Core Knowledge Category

Compassionate Communication, also referred to as non-violent communication, can equip you with the tools to become a better listener and more effective communicator with children, parents, childcare provider contacts, friends and family. The purpose of this communication method is to strengthen your ability to inspire empathy from others and respond compassionately during communication.

  1. Learn to hear your own deeper needs and those of others
  2. Learn to make careful observations free of judgment and evaluation
  3. Learn how to reframe how you express yourself, honestly and with compassion
  4. Learn how to minimize the likelihood of facing defensive reactions in others

Compassionate Communication is a clear and effective model for communicating in a way that is conscious and cooperative. It is based on the Nonviolent Communication Skills taught by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg.
